It appears you have quite a job keeping those North Wales boaters under control Kwackers, it sounds busier than the Solent, adventure wise anyway!

I having trouble getting that image of you, with your cap sideways, out of my head. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Quite understand tha'ts not in the rule books.

I'm not getting into Col reg crap here. [ QUOTE ]

Fascinating - just like the Solent on a fine day!
Except that our tripper boats tend to be cross-Channel and IoW ferries, fast cats, hovercraft - big enough to have have get out of their way. (Jetskis are a pain tho'.) But after any report or complaint Col Regs rool, sorry!

Question: why didn't you just stop? Wouldn't that have obliged him to avoid you?

Keep fightin' the fight!

That beggar regularly washes me coffee cup off the cabin top as it blasts out to Puffin & back. Not had a collision course yet, but the wash blast warning often needs to be sounded for anyone below. Very difficult if half in/ out of knickers or pouring a kettle for coffee below.

I would draft a letter to th owning company, something like "written with safety and seamanship in mind" would be interesting to hear their take on it.

Yes we should have done. Just to shocked at the time. Similar thing happened up the Beaular? river in the Solent some years ago. Trip boat capsized a dinghy, then cut me up, requireing full astern. Then went off to attack a yacht. I got thwife to put down fenders and threatened to board him at 10 knots.

We get those situations with cruise boats over here, as in some situations commercial boats have more rights to moorings etc..
We have found it is always a rogue skipper who is the problem, and the company owners have a lot more to lose than a casual employee.
