You have a big CNC machine then. assume you intend to machine a mould then lay the mould up... of cource you not just limited to DXF/DWG autocad files maybe a iges or step... best of luck.
We use autoCAD, which we find will only really (reliably) import DXF and DWG files.
Yeah, the CNC machine is 3m+ by 2m+ but im really only interested in machining ribs to make a more traditional canoe (all-be-it in a modern way!) and not a fibreglas construction.
There are quite a few canoe / kayak plans on the design program offered by Plyboats - www.plyboats.com.
However this is a DOS program - I had an old laptop (15 year old Toshiba running Windows 3.1!) which happily ran this program, but it has now expired, and any newer machine just gets hiccups, and doesn't like it.
I have heard about these DOS converter programs, and tried downloading one, but it all just baffled me. Has anybody else had experience of these?
I was hoping that the Plyboats founder would have come up with a Windows version by now, but I think he is still having problems with it.....
Have a look on www.ukriversguidebook.com someone may be able to help. There are also links to various sites for building modern/traditional kayaks and canoes.
