Local online weather station showing 45 with gusts of 85 mph, but living in the middle of a forrest it sounds a lot worse. Looks like I'll be checking in with the HM in the morning. :ambivalence:

Rhos on Sea. Station like me is on high ground. Might be more sheltered on the river but the winds are shifting direction through the night from SW to NW. Looking over the bay from my window the water looks huge.

They can yes. It's more of a problem for those on the swing moorings on the outer harbour. The pontoons are more sheltered. Still not happy though. Hope nobody breaks free of the moorings. There always one or two a year. In this last blow and super tide I fished out about 2m cubed of flotsam wood caught between the boat and pontoon and several large trunks. Thats my biggest worry after canvas.

All is well. The boys on the club launch braved this mornings 70mph gusts to inspect Amanzi. She's all there. One raggie has had some fun with sails unravelling? but by all accounts no damage. Started blowing a hoolie again but so far not quite as bad as the two last night and this morning. I'm rather surprised my canvas held so far. Its being replaced end of this month it's so old and brittle you could probably tear it by hand now. I should start a sweepstake will she / won't she see this storm out.

Holding thumbs for you John. You should be ok. Amanzi has far more exposed canvas and it really is on it's last legs. I've delayed putting the tonneau on while doing engine maintenance so as soon as that's done I'll whip off the canopy and send it in as template. If she pops it's no real heartache

Canopies with framework should really be taken down in strong winds and replaced with a tonneau cover if possible.
Repair work in the winter always increases due to most being torn by the wind.

Aye, but as I'm scrapping the current canvas the cover it provides while I work on the engines is more valuable than exposing myself and the engines to the elements while working on them. Besides the tonneau captures and retains condensate moisture like nobody's business (at least mine seems to) where as the canopy is always dry. Not too sure it's an overall better deal, I'll take a Mulligan on it.
