and got the response I deserved - naff all /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

So, if any of our resident IoM denizens can recommend either or both of an IoM Accountant and an IoM Advocate I'd be really pleased to hear from them!

Thanks,

Steve

I cannot answer your question, but I am not surprised you got no reply in The Lounge. I don't suppose there is a plethora of the types of people you seek.
It will be interesting to see if you get any replies here.

Indeed, the forums IoM residents seem on the whole to be mobo'ers, but it seems inappropriate to post an entirely non-boaty question in the mobo forum.

There is a listing of recommended firms here.

(if you are not looking for corporate/commercial advice, just back up a level on the search page to look for recommended firms for other kinds of offshore/IOM legal advice).

Cains are the local top dogs, and are good but correspondingly expensive like all major offshore players. They act for private clients as well as banks and large corporations, but the private clients tend to be very wealthy indeed and willing to pay top dollar to protect their assets.

Not over there, over here. Tax Consultant specialising in getting the likes of me out of the clutches of the revenue! Seen him, know exactly what I have to do now. Looking for personal recommendations for professionals in IoM if any are forthcoming.

Well, if you insist....

.... in the Albert Hotel, you may find yourself being approached by what must be the oldest practitioner of the oldest profession on the island.

I cannot vouch for either the service or the fees, as the tide served and we had a fair slant, so we made our excuses and left.

When I was last there, I invited a resident in the next boat for a glass of wine. He told me the IOM was great for tax. If you pay the taxman £100,000 per annum you don't need to fill in any boring details. Not sure if he was trying to impress, or what.
