Re: I think I\'ll become a Yacht Broker
Cheeky bugger. Just had a lot off at me for selling a lovely little boat and now you're at it!
I must say I'd make a lousy broker.
I've sold my boat, got the money, but ridiculously, promised to deliver it.
Checked the trailer bearings and the outers are pitted and a bit slack. If it was my boat I'd risk the 30 mile trip, but Sod's Law states that as it's not my boat the bearings will sieze and the boat pitch off the trailer.
So I've replaced the bearings.
I was talking to another mooring holder last night and mentioned I may run the Danish Oil over the woodwork before delivery "Why?" he asked, "you've got the bloody money"
The boat I bought was -Not As Described- but as I'd been looking for that exact thing for months I bought it anyway. I'd asked him to check the bearings before making the 300 mile journey to view it. Had he buggery? I always take a trolley jack, tools and grease gun on trailer towing jaunts. God job.
He did have some lovely little clinker sailing dayboats in and I reckon that was his interest. So why take on baots that he won't put the effort in on.
I viewed a boat at Prerston Marina and the sales manager there was very upfront. She said it wasn't the sort of boat she usually took in and that the pictures flattered it. She also mentioned a couple of faults and when I looked she was spot on.
Congratulations, that woman.
