To cut the CI trip short and dash back on Monday. We needed to be back by tomorrow morning and the In Laws have just called to say their fast ferry from Pompey has been cancelled due to the conditions.
It was hard leaving St Peter Port on Monday though when the sun was actually out. Mrs E even got burned on the trip back.
Having said that current observations at the Channel Light vessel are only 1.6ft wave height - it was 6ft on Monday when we crossed.
Anyone crossed today?

I think the MBM cruise was trying to get back today - have a look at MBM club in the morning and see if they managed it. If not, they may be there some time

I'm guessing that today would have been a reasonable day to cross, but you wouldn't have known that on Monday: the next 3-4 days look hopeless :(

Good call - we are still sat in Chichester making the best of it

Had a bike ride yesterday and off to the farmers market today - both chilling out and not stressing about the dreadfull weather.

May

We did. We looked at the forecasts on Sunday and decided that we had 2 days we could move. Monday we did Jersey to Alderney. Then we crossed from Alderney to the south coast yesterday.

As shown by the channel lightship reports, it was very flat - far smoother than the run up from Jersey to Braye. Was worse in the solent than mid-channel. I was a little suprised, given that on Wednesday the sea was breaking over the wall in Braye and the wind didn't seem to drop until late on Wednesday afternoon....

damn! I even got that wrong then. My run from Jersey to Guensey on Sunday was quite swelly which probably contributed to my decision to go - with it forecsast as windy Tuesday and Wednesday I thought it would only get worse.

You must have passed us as you exited then? We were right by the cill in St Helier - arrived on Saturday morning.

Spent Sunday out and about on the bikes. Managed to get on the tour of the inside of Corbière lighthouse which was fantastic.

Must have - were on E but went onto the pontoon outside the cill at about 11 on Sunday, The durrell sanctuary was having an open day so went there and left for StPP at about 1730.
