Photo taken last weekend in Orhaniye (Turkey). After completion of sale we will most likely leave her there for a couple of weeks until I can get back over to Turkey again. Then we will take her up to Portbodrum Marina in Yalikavak where she will be based.
The yard at Orhaniye is a lot cheaper, so might have the ex-charter livery all removed there rather than paying for the same work to de done at Yalikavak prices. Just waiting for a quote from them for the work and a hull polish.
(if you look very closely, I photoshopped some of the livery off the picture) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The young lady in the picture was from the charter company/broker. Not sure if she was expecting me to bring my SWMBO with me though. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Actually she was very knowlegable and has helped us a lot with the technicalities of registration etc, and she has been sailing most of her life with her family.
Her name is Carbisdale, not sure if it will stay the same though.
And yes, I have researched renaming boats, something about getting SWMBO to walk around the mast three times whilst naked.
(well that is what I told her when she asked if we could change the name)
For some reason she now likes the old name /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I did a renaming last weekend, my children loved throwing daddy's champagne all over the boat, boat yard, other boats, me and into the marina! Left me nothing! I'll get my own back, I will leave them the same. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Just had a verbal report from the surveyor, he needs to go back again tomorrow as they could not lift her today, problem at the marina, nothing to do with us.( full written report will follow next week)
Report so far is that she looks very sound structurally but needs a bit of TLC, as was to be expected from an ex charter boat.
Simple things that are quick fixes eg, battery clamps/straps missing, holding tank needs to be secured (guess that they had it out for a tank scrub/flush and did not refit it properly)
Gooseneck bracket needs two rivets to be drilled out and re-rivetted.(will ask for them all to be replaced)
All stuff that the seller can have fixed.
When I first viewed the boat there was a slight odour in the heads, not a bad smell, just a slight odour, I assumed that there was a leaking valve seal, but surveyor informs me that it is the flexi pipework, now approx 7 years old and apparently it becomes permiable to odours after 5 or so years, again just a small problem that can be fixed.
From above she has no signs of ever being involved in any bumps, but just need to wait until tomorrow for the lift out to have the bottom checked to confirm this.
Now feeling like a little kid at Christmas time, waiting to see what Santa brings, just hope that Santa the Surveyor brings good news after the lift out.
Does every one feel the same when they are waiting for the final survey report?
Simple answer is yes, especially if its the yacht you want.
I basically ignored all the comments re anchor chain needs replacing, & the deck had some chips etc etc. only interested in the standing rig, engine oil analysis & hull, as that is where the money would be spent if there was a problem. All the other bits were minor repairs & I could tackle them myself.
According to my virtual on-line bank manager, I have now bought the above.
Unfortunately due to work committments ( the boss would not give me the weekend off) I am not able to be there for the hand over. However I have hired a skipper to pick her up and take her from Marmaris to Yalikavak. There is a small weather window tommorrow (saturday morning to early hours sunday) for the trip before a big blow sets in.
Spoke to the skipper today to check fuel etc, he said no probs, will not need much as the front end of the blow should give them a good sail most of the way, said it would be an exciting trip, I said "not too exciting I hope".
The Dutch ensignia has been removed (Ensign and Port of Origin name from the transom) and a Red Ensign will be proudly flying in just afew hours time.
Happiest day of my life.
(And in true boating form apparentley the next happiest day of my life will be the day that I sell her)
