It was a cold blowey rainy dark afternoon walk along the pontoon . The boat was ,although dry, cold dark and really miserable looking. Left the boat feeling really depressed ........ Its been a long sh*tty winter . Roll on the spring !!

If anyone is in Gosport Premier Marina tomorrow (31st Dec) I shall be on board Talulah doing a bit of miscellaneous stuff. It's going to be a really wet, windy day. Visitors welcome. The heating will be on.

Clyst, why not set up a non-CO-producing heater on the boat overnight, and spend a windy cold night-watch in the cabin at her berth, with half a bottle of your favourite scotch etc, looking through pics from the best of last season? All the good memories come back.

Nothing worse than feeling cold and uncomfortable, and being reminded that it's four months till the season starts again.

C,mon it's not that bad (In Chichester area anyway!) not that cold for this time of year, not that wet. I work outside for a living and have only taken a few days off due to rain. I even had to cut my grass the other day

I'm quite encouraged by the weather so far as I want to keep my boat in during the winter next year - going down soon for a couple of days to do a few jobs - heater on, hot soup, wrapped up in a sleeping bag with a good book in the evening - bliss :)

Have to say the rest of the country looks to be swimming around in it :( Wait until Jan/Feb/March!! Hope we don't get snow...

Best bits from last season? Yer aving a laff? Best bit indeed?

I can't remember one good sail on my own boat last year, there was either too much wind to go out, or none at all. The best days we had was a motor from Cowes to Beaulieu early on in the season or a motor from Emsworth to Birdham pool, not enough wind on either "day"

You need to get out of the office more. :D Admittedly, I was lucky this year - somehow caught the last (only) sunny week of July on the Isle of Wight, after six weeks of continuous rain. Maybe you can remember better weather, from a previous season? :D

We normally live aboard but for the first time in6years we went shoreside for Xmas . Should be back onboard in a weeks time then things will be back to normal with the boat bright and warm . At the moment the screen cover is on and roof hatches have their canvas covers on making the whole boat dark and gloomy .

Thanks for the advice regarding the whiskey . May visit again tomorrow !!

I don't know what you people are talking about...

In 30 days of being aboard this season (almost all sailing) I only experienced 2 days of drizzle - not even proper rain! :D

On board now, fan-heater going (free lecky on the club hammerhead), warmth coming out of the Roberts radio, and warm inside with a small tumbler of Jura single malt...

Going to test the storm jib tomorrow!

Was out for a couple of hours between blows Thursday, keeps the winter blues at bay.
End August, early Sept 2 week cruise was great last year, Dublin for the tall ships, Carlingfordand Ardglas, sunny, dry and great sailing conditions.
Just looking at the photos brings it all back.

I had some great sailing this year too. I started a thread in February about a nice sunny sailing weekend and again in July. I also did the trip from Scotland to Cornwall with pretty good weather :)

The delivery trip from Plymouth to our new berth in Southern Brittany in March this year saw the best weather for us all summer. It was shorts and tee shirts across Quiberon Bay.

It seems that we are not far enough south to avoid the same weather patterns as SW England but at least the rain is a couple of degrees warmer!!
