There have been a few questions on this in previous posts, and some new equipment is now available. Kenwood have launched a head unit, ipod adaptor and a digital wired remote that allows you to control the ipod from the saloon or flybridge, and even displays the track info on the flybridge remote.

If you're quick you can still get the boat show launch special offer from Golden Arrow in Poole, talk to Zoe on 01202 666066. I paid £297 for the head unit and remote, but they also do packages to include speakers. They sell an i-pod adaptor, but the place below also does one with a cradle to house and charge the ipod at the same time, for £95.

OK, so its £400 for the whole lot which is not cheap, but its a pukka job.

I haven't received either yet so can't vouch for either company, or the products, and I have no links to any of the companies etc. etc.

I have headed in the opposite direction - £8 for a wireless output from the ipod and keep it in the pocket style 'remote operation' or put it safely below if it's wet!. works with any existing FM radio.

OK it will use a few AA batteries but it will do the job!

Have a look at the Alpine stuff, they do a all the iPod adapters, cheaper and pretty good, also some excellent deals on eBay.

Have they made an EU approved version of that yet?
If not avoide the boys from OFCOM!!

If you get fed up of buying batteries, I use the iTrip mini. Bit more expensive is powered through the iPod.

no one can make an EU approved unit as no standard exists to comply with as far as I am aware?

personally I wouldn't dream of using said unit at any time other than on the boat outwith a marina environment so noone's going to be near me to be interfered with ( /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif )or inconvinenced..........

of course I should say 'I am thinking of aquiring' rather than 'I have got'... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
