I want to flag up the following as prominently as I flagged up the original posting although I have also posted this there as well.

Mr Hubbard has contacted me quite independently. not knowing I was chasing him. He had been out of contact up the Fal where he had found a more secure anchorage. He has behaved completely honourably and has agreed to pay for the repairs in full from his own money (no chaitable or Lottery money involved). Please do not think badly of this chap or his organisation

It's good that it is ending well.

If I may be slightly cynical. In your original post you mentioned that you had agreed to exchange details in the morning. If I had known I had done enough damage to warrant that exchange I wouldn't be unaware that the other party might want to be chasing me.

Quite. And "agree to pay" isnt the same thing as "paying". Time will tell.

Mind you publishing a committment on the net isnt a bad way of making it pretty concrete.

Of course he hasn't made the commitment on the web we only have a report that he has made this commitment.

Equally was the furore on here the thing that sparked his penitence from his safe anchorage, had he been tipped off?

The key thing though is he is behaving properly now and that should be commended.

Good news indeed ! but the cynic in me makes me wonder what would have transpired without some effort on your part. Still, all water-under-the-bridge now as long as he coughs up in due course
