I know I shouldn\'t really be here but

Can anyone help me with finding an email provider when cruising (in a sailing boat). There are loads of free email but I want to be able to save to a CD or floppy and read on the boat and you can't do this with the web based ones like Hotmail, I don't mind paying for the service just not £45 a quarter, as I wont want to browse, just collect emails from cafes preferably using something like Outlook etc.

You can do what you want to do using Hotmail. Also with
iname.com
altavista also run a service
In fact any ISP will allow you to log in from a remote address and collect/send mail.

Thanks

I have a hotmail address but I can't see any way to say the emails to a floppy. Can you explain how please?

Re: Pocketmail

Take a look at http://www.pocketmail.com/?loc=us
Met a Brit couple in Bahamas last year who swore by it and told us it is the method of choice for many yotties. They simply dialled a number on a payphone, stuck the device on the phone's handset, uploaded previously written e-mails and downloaded new ones which they could read and reply to at leisure before finding another or same phone and repeating the process.

Re: Thanks

OK! Take each Email read it, cut the content and paste it into Notebook (or Word) when you have them all save them to a Floppy as a file called EMail or anything else you want to call it.

I\'ve found it

I have been desperately seeking an email provider that I can access from anywhere, which would give me an Outlook type service and at last I've found it. You can access it through your Iridium phone, using Iridium as your data gateway and then connect to the net and this extremely fast site and download all your emails from up to 10 other addresses and all for $20 a year, they even screen out large attatchments.

Re: I feel so stupid

I'd rather be on holiday!
