a November 1999 YM which I must have put on the boat and then forgotten about. What a good read it was and so much more so than the current ones. The articles are longer and there are more of them- the focus isn't completely related to the bloody East Coast and the blasted swatchways - Oh am I tired of reading about them - but its interesting how many companies advertising are no longer around.
Then there is Des - irreplaceable!

Strange. SWMBO says our library is full of old mags that need to be binned. My PBOs run back to the 1980s and I too have found the articles better. Better? - More detailed, more "how I built/improved my boat" more down to earth.

But yes. The number of "no longer with us" is quite distressing.

What a nice thought. Alzeimers now has a use. We can continue reading all those boating articles month after month and they will seem like new ones. Roll on old age.

I am working through a pile of old PBO's and YM's at the moment, pulling out the articles I want, pilotage etc. Some of them were given to me years ago, anyone want an article on "Will GPS ever be as good as Decca"?!

I have reminded myself why I switched from PBO, to much power boat, to much classic boat and to much how to convert your 18' pocket cruiser into a livaboard.

Well Claysie!
I am one of those hampsters that hoard, Posted last month, Moved to rented house after twenty years had to skip lots 3 x 8 ton skips in fact but saved my electronic mags from 70's 80's supprising how many circuits there were then for boaty type thingy's
looking for one of those roundtuit's thingy's so that I can transfer best pbo etc articles and how to do it stuff to cd rom will certainly cut down on space.

I do miss Des! but as you get older (53 at xmas) it is surprising how many people dissappear! that you have grown up with................mmm

So there is some value for us out here in the colonies always getting "old" copies? - they are by the time they get shipped here.
