I have two holes for my log, which one should I use?

As part of our extensive refit we're installing an all-in-one depth and log unit. This leaves me with a spare through-hull hole which I intend to fill. The question is, which remaining hole should I use: the one further forward, the one further back or will it make no difference? They're about a metre apart and just forward of the keel.
