I can'nt control my crew, they wish to take over saying that I can't navigate. I'm very upset as I like steering and do'nt really care where we're going as long as I'm at the helm. What should I do?

How dare they suggest you can't navigate, I'm told you can do it in your sleep..

Well its quite easy really, as long as we manage to avoid Europe its OK. Its fairly big so we should see it from miles off.

that only leaves the continent, the ice shelf, south america and bits in between to avoid. seems a simple problem. For them to complain as long as you avoid these bits seems a bit harsh. Have the heard of "keel hauling" or other penalties for mutiny?

.. one hopes, one does, that when the euro shore looms ahead that you might pay heed to the crew's advice to turn RIGHT and not left as you're wont to do ...

Dear reader
just after feeding jimi a bowl of my wholesome stew which would i should think have been more than adequate etc etc, he asked which direction he should turn to avoid a vessel somewhat larger than mine ... the settled opinion of the crew was go right and this duly communicated to our jimi on the helm ... inexplicably, he turned left which just goes to show that his sense of direction or lack of might explain his current predicament ... of course, dear reader, the words were not uttered in somnabulent-yachtmaster-speak .....

Re: Mutineers & keel hauling

The ain't much point in keel hauling if you have a short fin keel like he does.. maybe holding tank diving might be more appropriate in Jimi's case.

If the mutineers manage to catch Jimi napping I wonder where they'll cast him adrift.. Cherbourg perhaps???

Fine : - simple solution. You are not worried about where you go, so let them do the navigating bit - you know all that messing around with the GPS, charts, compass and all the rest, while you get on with the steering. Just remember to go in a different direction if anything gets in the way.

If the crew are really so keen on steering get one of those nicely coloured plastic steering wheels from mothercare.... should keep them happy for hours! The posh ones even have instrument panels and a hooter. Mount it down below where its warm and dry, and voila - problem solved!

obviously you have lost control totally of 25 of the crew
the rest will probably follow suit

i would hand over control to parahandy
i was heard someone to say
'there is something of the nightnurse about him'
