I hate washing/drying up!!

Very funny thread. I too hate washing up and cleaning out the gully for the fridge where water collects if I use the counter as a drainer. The fridge also tries to chop my hand off hence the invention of the safety sausage. How to make oen on request. I'm now back in the Caribbean with my latest Lakeland purchase. (didn't go back home especially to go to Lakeland, it just happened). I've just posted a picture of it on my blog, I love it so much. If anyone's interested you can see my blog on www.sailblogs.com/member/capisce. HOpe putting link to blogs isn't frowned upon.

I think a dishwasher is an option on a Beneteau Sense 55. It's a pricey way to resolve your problem but at least you would not have to put it away before going to sea. Just a thought:)

this one used to annoy me too as water would drain into the fridge and then I has to wash my cans of beer before drinking (can't use a glass as it creates even more washing up). My Mark 1 solution was to put a tea towel on the work top to absorb the water. But then I always ended up with soaking tea towels loitering around the galley and more trips to the launderette. Mark 2 involves a deep sided plastic tray from the Chinese shop! Works great and even helps when on passage.

Turning up the dehumidifier seems to sort out the drying side:)

What's wrong with using a bucket of seawater in the cockpit!? Doesn't matter if that spills. No shortage of water too.
Mind you my wife tries a sneaky fresh water rinse, I like salty plates!

We have a normal 240v domestic dishwasher on board which works a treat.
If you are very wealthy you could always marry one (and cut down on the power drain)..as thay say all domestic appliances come in white...
Sleep tight!!

I have a dishwasher aboard but sometimes it is a little slow to get started. It costs me far too much to run for what it actually does so I am thinking of selling it off cheap if you are interested.

Oh, it goes by the name of WIFE.
(God am I in for it... again. It is embarrassing when your dishwasher beats you up!)

Talk about hitting the deathwish button. When our d/w cried enough due to a valve failure. She thought we were descending into the 3rd world. Immence credo when I managed to fix it. Less so when the coffee machine turned it's toes up, but at least that was cheap to replace.

When we moved aboard one of the benefits for me was divorce from the tyranny of the dishwasher. Had one for years, even when I was a bachelor (don't hear that one any more eh!). Bloody hated it, stacking, salt, rinse aid, (WTF is that!) empty it. The special knife you like to use for chopping garlic is always in it! On the basis that you need a twelve piece dinner and cutlery set to properly manage a dishwasher how can you accommodate one on anything under 20m anyway?

Dear me, you live on something less than 20mt? Life gets really tough when you don't watch out for yourself. Need to get a grip...

I can live with the dish washing but I hate handwashing clothes. So much so, that I have been down in the basement, with the crayons, designing the cruiser's wave powered washing machine to wash my clothes while at anchor. This is very much at the conceptual stage where all my great ideas live (and die) but this summer, I will put my blueprints to the test.
