Didn't the met office say we were in for a hot summer? So far, the next 5 days is continuous rain! Fire the lot of them, or maybe they think the summer hasnt started yet.. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The long hot summer of 1976 started on June 6th.
It was a Saturday and our motor club were holding an autotest at the Cottingham Show.
On the previous Thursday it snowed!
So we all arrived at the showground bundled up in warm clothing.
We were roasted.

Yep! and after the rain there will be lots of lovely wind! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Still, there's always the Oxford Canal! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was always taught that the seasons revolved aound the Equinox's as follows:

Summer - 21 June to 21 Sep
Autumn - 21 Sep to 21 Dec
Winter - 21 Dec to 21 Mar
Spring - 21 Mar to 21 Jun

However - more than willing to be corrected by those with more knowledge /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

In the past few years we have noticed that February and March have been lovely. May very nice and September/October very nice.
The rest have been cold, wet and windy.
How does that fit in with the seasons?

They do; it's just that the met office can't cope with a season starting mid way through a month so have decided to chuck away tradition. As far as I am concerned Summer starts on the 21st and the weather on that day will be sunny with a light southerly wind and 28C /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
