Just a comment, but it is the outer bit of the prop that does the best work, so chopping it off might not be the best solution.
Getting it 're propped' would be better.

A Volvo dealer got in touch today and explained...
This is for MS15A-B gearbox
The gearbox lever push towards the engine puts it in reverse.

The FWD ratio is either 2.14:1 or 2.63:1 depending on exact gearbox. The reverse ratio is always 2.63:1. The prop should normally be right hand.
