I got some inspiration since you guy's keep mentioning that the winter is soon creeping in. A duplicate thread from one I created on powerboat.ie. Hopefully you guy's will enjoy:

So I decided to go up the lake yesterday, WOW, what a day. Warmer than a lot of days in summer. Ended up staying the night, was in a t-shirt all night beside the camp fire! It was so mild that I was too warm with the heat on the boat, had to turn it off

Parts of the Corrib are very shallow, even in the main channels. This pic was taken in a place called 'The Narrows'. I was doing 30knots when I looked down and saw this:

Bit of a fog started to kick in. It wasn't long until viz was down to about 100ft. If I didn't have CorribCharts I would have had to turn around. But I we got to our destination safely, it was a real buzz and damn eerie!

smooth lochs

thanks for the great pics. reminded me of my boat move from troon through the caledonian. the Mull was like ice (except for those weird eddies) wow.
good sailing !!!!!!!!!!

I was out yesterday and it was fabulous - a bit breezy when in an exposed spot and pretty rough offshore but as these snaps taken when we stopped for lunch at Studland show, it was definitely far too nice to stay at home.

The normally crowded moorings at Studland were empty bar about 3 other boats.

And the view was great - visibility was extremely good in the sunshine.

I will definitely be out again as soon as possible if the weather stays like this.
