After months of indecision we have finally put our wonderfully safe and solid Hurley 30 up for sale. I am now faced with trying to decide what to buy to replace her. We have a budget of around £40k and are looking for a cruising yacht with at least 2 separate cabins plus saloon to allow us to put the 3 kids away and still enjoy some space. I want a boat that sails reasonably well and is again fairly solid. So far I have looked at a Moody 36, Scanmar 35, Conway 36 and have seen a couple of boats of less familar marques on Dutch Brokerage sites that seem interesting.
Somebody suggested a Sigma 36, which I have always had down a racing boat rather than a family cruiser, another mate pointed us towards French boats such a Beneteau 35.
We want something that we will be able to use for our usual cruising around the East Coast, France and Holland and subsequently for a 12 month sabatical in about two years time.
This must be a common dilema so what does the gang suggest? Any bright ideas will be gratefully received.
