I've been wrestling with my conscience for the last 24 hours and I have to confess that yesterday's earthquake in the Channel was almost certainly caused by the fact that I had a rather decent steak and ale pie plus chips and a pint of London Pride in Cowes on Wednesday night and then headed home across the Solent at a fair old rate of knots.

What can I say except, SORRY. :D

It was at The Union Inn. Nicely out of the way of the Nautors Swan regatta which looked like it had the scope to get messy.

that brightened by otherwise dull afternoon! not been to the Union for sometime but always used to be great!

maybe we should start a rating system for pubs on their pie's. IMO you cant beet a good pie on the menu!!

Just what is the difference between a pie and a pudding?

simples. a pie is normally baked in the oven. A pudding is normally done in the oven (or on top of the aga) for far longer and usually steamed.

A pie usually has pastry, puddings normally have none

Up ere int North the difference is

Pie is baked in an oven and has a pastry casing...pudding is steamed(as previously mentioned) and has a suet casing.
