Hello All!

I am rebuilding a M225ti. Well maybe I am. Heres the story…

I bought a boat with what Im pretty sure has a Perkins Sabre M225ti. Maybe.

There are the engine plates. One of which is loose. Two others are still attached to the engine. All the numbers match. I have attached the photos.

Here is where my brain starts leaking out of my ears.

The emissions plate says:
Engine Family 1006-6TW
Year 2010
Engine Type 5528/2500

The engine sticker still attached says:
M225TI/148HP
YD50756
YD50775/150HPU913458U

The metal stamped engine plate says:
M225TI/148HP
YD50775U907458U

The build sheet for my boat says Perkins M150ti and matches my serial number. Nothing else I find mentions a M150ti.

The Perkins App wont even accept my serial number if I use the YD50775 part. It will only accept the whole number if I use YD50756. But then it tells me the engine is a 1006-60TA not a 6TW like the emissions sticker says. And if I click the parts book link, it builds me a parts list for the YD50756 M210TI. Not to mention there are no Sabre parts in that list book.

I do know that other boats of the same model do have the same engine and same stickers. So my boat isn't a weirdo.

1: I have been trying to figure out why Perkins doesn't accept the YD50775 part of my serial number?
2: Why are there two numbers on my engine sticker? What is YD50756 and YD50775?
3: Who can I contact for an actual parts list for my engine?
4: Is there such a thing as a Sabre Workshop Manual for this engine? I saw a post that mentions a TPD 1318e?
5: What do these ti, tw, 60t, etc. abbreviations mean?
6: All other M225TI’s are 225HP. Why does mine say 148 and 150HP?

I am not an idiot. I have rebuilt a handful of engines. Never has any company made me crazy like Perkins. I think this is how aneurisms happen.

I have been at this for WEEKS!!!!!!!

Please be kind.

OK, so a few pointers -

What year was your boat built - I think you do have an M225Ti motor as per the ID plate but probably a very early unit looking at the photos provided. I'm pretty sure your engine won't be supported by the Perkins app due to your motor quite possibly being no longer in production. Nowadays, engines are just sold as marine units, in days gone by, the engines were supplied by the manufacturer then marinised by another firm, hence Perkins/Sabre, Ford/Lehman, Ford/Sabre etc, therefore there will be no Sabre workshop manual for the engine.

I have a pair of Ford Sabres and have found Lancing Marine very helpful and were able to supply me with a complete workshop manual for the engine, gearbox and marinising parts at no cost. Given their generosity and knowledge of older engines, I use them for all of my engine requirements, besides service items this has included new rocker covers, lift pump and alternator bracket.

I know these fairly well, I've had several.

I'm still looking for the manual, sent 2 files, but I'm sure I have another full workshop manual.

Can you post more pics of the whole engine and tell us sbout the boat, gearbox ratio, prop and performance you get?

M225ti and M215c were exactly the same thing, rated differently and were 204hp.

On the emissions sticker it mentions 112kw, which is about 150hp. I'm guessing this may be a de-rated version of the M225ti engine for commercial use or the like

I think so to. I think its M225ti hardware with injection pump down rated to 150hp, that would have made it a perfect replacement for an ageing T6.354 145hp which would have been a key target market for Sabre.

With respect to the OP, the paintwork in the photographs suggest more wear than a 2010 engine ought to have 😳

It makes my 1987 Ford/Sabre 2728s look lovely 😍 Tolerance Engine 5.jpg
