I am in need of a good whip!

Hi, I have found the article and I think I am going to buy the Best buy V-tronix.

The closest looking to the Metz with a plug connector performed exceptionally badly, though it seemed more to do with the aerial connection top end from their descriptions.

The Glomex really did not perform well at all, phew, that was close /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Also found a crossword not filled out, so double bonus!

Cheers all..

I have just replaced my Vitronix aerial with, a Vitronix aerial. There was nothing wrong with the old one, we could pick up Solent in Cherbourg and last year we got the Jersey radio weather when in St Vast!

The reason I changed the aerial, was that as the mast was down I felt that after 14 years the coax would be the weak link. £49 was the price of the aerial but I would have replaced the coax, if I had been able to find any! With the Vitronix you can change the coax, plus the cable screws into the base of the aerial protecting it from the elements. When I undid the connector it was still bright and shiny brass, no corrosion, not bad.

Some aerials, like the Metz and the Glomex use an external connector, so you have to do a real good job of water proofing the connection.
