Hi I'm hypothetically really excited cos I'm hypothetically skippering a hypothetical Beneteau First 40.7 from Southampton to London with a hypothetical crew of novices. I've just listened to the weather forecast and its going to be a fast trip, we might even get a F10 .. yippeee yay!!

Can anyone see any drawbacks in this plan, and advise of any all weather ports of refuge en route if it goes a bit hypothetically pearshaped?

It could get you in Hot Water for being incompetent and endangering lives while failing to carry out your legal obligation to take into account the competency of the crew and accessibility of a safe refuge.

This is a far too exciting for members of this forum. We must be protected from the consequences of jimi's uneventful trip, so I am asking, on behalf of the boat owner (Gung Ho Sailing) , the Imperial Yacht Training Association, and the National Board of Enquiry for Incidents at Sea for this thread to be moved.

This forum must be prevented from commenting or learning from what never went wrong on jim's trip, even though radio, television, newspapers would be at liberty to discuss the hypothetical consequences of his rash and impetuous decision-making process, and his failure to exercise proper command of a vessel in international waters. Allegedly.

Spinoza's Tractatus Politicus, in a discussion about the rights and powers of kings, is germane.

No problems as when you get to 3 or 4 in the middle of the night you won't be cold wet seasick sh!!!!t scared not shure what to do trying to get an overheated engine sorted at the same time as being doctor and wheelwright because you can turn over in bed and say I am glad I am not out in that .

How dare you mention London after Southampton. London should have been stated first in your sentence, like this "to London from Southampton". Your post is offensive to all Londoners and I've reported it to the moderators and asked for this thread to be pulled.

Hi TK, you have a reputation as being an old and grizzled sailor, can you recommend any all weather ports (or anchorages (you jest!!!!!!!!!!!)) of refuge en route?

Cant find it at the moment but I think there was another posting last week that was similar.
Might give you some headers.

Southampton would be best. Then Portsmouth. At a pinch, Cowes. Next stop Ramsgate unless you've got passports.

He's hypothetically starting from Southampton.

If its a 'westerly' F10/11, inshore of the 'roads' where the big ships anchor east side of I.O.W, would be good, otherwise not much on that south coast in those winds.

This Bogroll 7.40( it's piece of merde) of which you write:

As it's a winter trip can you arrange some snow and icy decks and a visitation by angels from overhead because hypothetically these things all count y'know.

Have you considered cashing in all your zillions of sea-miles and flying to Excell direct by hypothetical Chopper cutting out the BogRoll40.7 bit completely

That's right. Stay in Southampton. I know a couple of decent Indian restaurants.

The roads west of the IOW get a lot of swell coming around the Island. You could try and tuck right up into Sandown bay. Go in with a back transit of W Princessa on Nab Tower (if you can see the Nab in an F10).

If you CAN see it, your dragging! :D

Should have gone to the N.E.C., no problems with seasickness

Sorry - unable to comment; even hypothetically. My hypothetical armchair is just far too comfortable.
I Must o get a new coat, though - I've pulled some of the threads in my old one.
