In the process of purchasing a yacht, of 2008 vintage, that has a hydraulic autohelm system. The wheel steering feels slightly more difficult to turn than an electrical ram type. Is this normal or possibly a problem within the system.

Thanks

I have twin wheel hydraulic steering with a hydraulic pump driven by my autohelm. There is no difference between manual steering on either helm.

We need more details of your steering arrangement

My friends fairly new vetus system feels heavy and rough. My own baystar is super light and silky smooth.
The cc of the helm and ram need to matched and the length of lever on rudder can make a difference.
As already posted, more details..
