I have a light blue coloured Husun 60 VHF on my boat. Does anyone have an operating manual for this. I know it's fairly straight forward but I'm used to using a DSC set on the other boat - this one is from the steam driven age. Are they any good? Seems to be working i.e. can receive stuff etc. Just hoped some kind of manual would cover it's finer points (if there are any!)
Cheers!

If you want to donate it - I know a very good charity ... The SBC Old Boats Fund. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

It's simple, it works and does the job ... as to manual - have you googled ?? Most come up somewhere .. I have managed to gain many older model manuals that way ...

I've had my boat 6 years and it came with a Huson 60. The radio has always worked well, much better than my mates (4 or 5 of them) who have more modern ones, and even one DSC job. My transmitions go further than theirs and reception is brill. All sound quality is excellant. I plug in a moveable speaker so I can hear it in the cockpit. I would not dream of changing this radio.
I have the manual which has about 9 pages plus some circuit diagrams. Happy to scan/copy it. PM me with some detail of what you want me to do.

Don't knock the Husun, they're are superb, reliable radios and if mine ever packed up I'd be onto eBay immediately for another. They seem to come up there fairly regularly, in fact I almost bought one for a spare a couple of weeks ago.

Mines now 26 years old and as good as the day I bought it - two boats ago!

It's dead simple to use so you don't (shouldn't) need a manual!

I wish I still had mine.
I think the manual was something like
1/ turn it on
2/ set channel
3/ press button, speak.
4/ listen.

I was going to post similar ... but then decided to be nice and not point out how simple it is to use without a manual.

Sort of reminds me of maths nowadays ... old style is add up in head - simple. New style is to use sophisticated electronics and buttons etc.

Should have pointed out that there are 3 or 4 toggle type switches on the front of the VHF but the writing has worn off so don't know what each of them mean. Was informed that the set was u/s but someone had turned down the display dimmer knob and volume. Just looking to see what everything does. execimp - will PM you with e-mail address, as I would appreciate it if you could scan the manual and send.
Thanks

Had one for 12 years, will not replace it till it sqawks its last. As can be seen form the pic, the 3 knobs are: Vol, Squelch and Dimmer. Big knob channel selection. Switches: (l to r) Dual Watch, Ch 16 overide ( with ind light), Speaker off ( for use with telephone handset) and the last one I forgot - suspect I don't use it much.

Suppose I should have mentioned the writing on the toggles was gone! For a miute there I thought it was p**s take Tuesday! Many thanks for the picture - at least I know what the switches are for now. Do not intend to replace the radio just yet as there seems to be plenty of life left in it. May have a pile of old broken crap from the cockpit locker to donate to the SBC old boats fund though!!!!!!!!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Remaining toggle is 25W / 1W selector.
Good set, mine got a sore throat when the internal speaker went and as I could not be bothered to get a replacement have an external speaker plugged in. Also has a telephone type hanset, brilliant when engine is running!
