Can't remember who but didn't some regulars here once have one ?
I'm pretty close to buying one and others experiences would be an encouragement. It's the deep draft (5'6") version so I'll have to do serious calcs when dodging about the Spitway.
Holman and Pye, of course, so locally designed - will that make a difference?

I too have a fine Holman & Pye on the East Coast, dont worry about a measly 5`6" :o.

I was keen to buy a Hustler 30 a few years ago - nice boat with good performance. Just the one I was looking at was overpriced, had too many unexplained things and had been sitting unused for quite a while. Just as well Jim came with me or I wouldn't have noticed and ended up spending loads more than I wanted!!

Your choice is your choice, but I found the 32 to be much better all rounder, used to clean up class 3 back in the 90s. The 30 has a tendancy to wobble when going downhill, and I found it a bit cramped.

However 5ft 6ins draft is no bar to the Spitway. Ray Sand channel maybe....

There would be plenty of room for me single-handed - especially after the folkboat type I now have! This one is far from over-priced and in good nick - a snip. I wondered if a Holman and Pye design would have a built in instinct for the deeper puddles

Not really, it had to be designed to the 1/2 ton rule IOR. Not much opportunity for East Coast regionalisation.

Sure you wouldn't like an SJ27 called Grace and Danger for £6k (asking)? Landamores built, Stephen Jones design, very quick for a 27ft.

It don't know about the Hustler 30, but I used to race a Hustler 32, it was a great boat, very nice to sail, it felt like a big dinghy. We sailed out of West Mersea and the 5' 6'' draft was not a problem

3 x hustler 30's in our club recently. Quick and seaworthy. Very good and fast in a blow, punches through the wallet chop when modern and lighter designs get bounced around, rather wet cockpit though.

My 5'5" [when loaded] on my Holman and Pye UFO27 has no problems with the Ray'san an hour either side of high water. I hold my breath on the Spitway at low water and the Sunk Sand has defeated me a couple of times forcing me to go around the long way. Forget the Havengore.

I did really know about the Spitway thanks to Tillergirl's (Roger?) survey. Middle Hoo Creek would be very iffy but a bit of an obscure example even for this forum.
