Hi,

My gearbox has finally given up the ghost and there seems to be no replacement, or spare parts. I'm informed it's the first gearbox Hurth made.

So, I have to replace it, but what with and how much work does this involve? Maybe a Hurth ZF10M Gearbox, or PRM 80 would be a close fit, but I don't have the specs on the old Hurth.
I assume I'll need an adaptor plate unless the specs are the same for the old and new gearboxes. The engine is a BMC 1.5 with a centrifugal clutch.

Any advice appreciated!

You do not say which exact Hurth gearbox you have, IF it is the old Hurth HBW 100 then the ZF 10m will be a 'straight swop' size for size, BUT, there is a very slight gear ratio differance which I found has not been a problem.

However the nearest PRM gearbox you will find will fit, BUT, there is an input/ouput horizontal shaft differance I think about 10mm, so you would have to lift the engine!
