Hurth gearbox Workshop manual

Re: Diagrams...

thanks pvb, very nice drawings indeed

do you know if the part numbers are original Hurth ? meaning can one call a ZF distributor and tell "I need part nr 6 in your Housing drawing"?

thanks r

Re: Diagrams...

Well, they're on the Atlantis Marine Gear Supply website. Can't really imagine that they would have redrawn the diagrams, so I'd think the part numbers might make sense to any ZF/Hurth supplier. Best to check though that what you think is a seal is actually a seal and not, eg, a pinion gear!

PVB
Thanks for the links & details of potential Parts Suppliers.

Trouble is, looking at the exploded view, it seems that a stripdown would be required just to change the seal at the output shaft (drive coupling) end.
Has anyone done this and had the gearbox survive?

Thanks again
Grandad.

I can't speak of the HBW10, but this is not necessary on the Hurth BW7, and I'd be surprised if it is on the HBW10.

Once the (splined) output flange is withdrawn, the oil seal is simply picked out and the new seal gently tapped in. The difficult part in my case was undoing the central flange nut, even with massive spanners. (BTW, the nut on mine is normal, RH thread, not LH as on some other makes).

Re: Diagrams...

Thanks Vic for that.
Unfortunately, if I remember correctly from when I replaced the flex shaft coupling, there did not seem to be any way to remove the gearbox output drive flange. That is, no sign of a bolt, nut or socket head within the recess in the flange. Hence my comment above.
So will have to split at the coupling and have a proper look.

Thanks to all for taking time to respond.
