To erase the old MMSI number do the following: Hold 16 and Watch keys down and turn on the radio. Enter code 4500. Choose Clear MMSI, and validate by pressing the channel button. Confirmation will appear on screen. Follow by programming the new MMSI number per the manual. This worked perfectly on my A2E Hurricane radio which is a RO4500.

Great! All radios are probably just as easy. You send them back and the person who knows how gets 50 euros for two minutes finger pushing...

Did you find the route by trial-and-error ? .... or did you have some 'insider information' to help?

I bought a Spanish boat and had to face the reprogramming issue about two years ago. I did a search on RO4500 and came up with a posting on a French forum that explained it. But I imagine that they all work about the same and as there are several keys on any radio it might not be too difficult to try the different combination of holding two down and turning the radio on. Who knows?
