Hurley lock on hand wind this afternoon.

Don't be too hasty Andy. We've been moored just by it for 37 years, and during that time it's had a lot of troubles and isn't easy to hand wind. The top gate on the Berks side always doesn't move (on hand wind) until the other gate is closed. It's been like that for many years. Brian Webb used to say how bad the hydraulics were. Noticed the bottom gates were doing similar now as well, one closes then the other. I would much rather make them all as per the one's Kings & above, particularly if we're going to be doing more lockie free operations.

Thinking its time to get a month's discount from the EA for being unable to use the Thames safely in August or leave the Thames to the feral yoof and follow the star west along the Channel to Poole, Weymouth, Brixham , Dartmouth and beyond ...

Hang on a mo...
YOU are the one that keeps telling us the fee is simply to "float in the water" - do I see a gamekeeper finally seeing the poachers point-of-view?
;-)

As pump-out says - a bit hypocrytical me thinks.

I think you all need to rediscover your sense of humour! Are tongue in cheek comments no longer understood? Four foot snake!
Interestingly I genuinely forgot to buy a licence for tomorrow as I was enjoying the lower Thames ( below Tedd) do I wing it or own up in the lock or annoy my fellow lock buddies by buying a license (17 quid)

I will own up as I need to clear two. That said one is manned the other is not ...

Hand wound Hurley for the first time earlier tonight. Yes it has lazy offside gates but seems ok on the hydraulics. Bit of a click on the pump so it might be more efficient to wind it slowly I think.
