Hurley 24

Friend of mine is just buying a Hurley 24
Has anyone any comments on these? Anything specific to look out for?

It's a nice boat and very seaworthy, your friend should have lots of good sailing with it. The only problem I had was with the engine, a 5.5 hp Petter..... the engine itself was fine but the clutch was worn and prone to slipping. Adjustment/replacement was tricky and expensive and spares were difficult to get then (15yrs ago) so I would imagine almost impossible now. Hopefully your friend's will have been re-engined at some point.

Its a good stable boat for its age

Nice boat.Sail quite well with reasonable cabin etc. Watch out for water in the keel(s) due to previous grounding damage.Takes eons to drain and dry out. Can corrode encapsulated ballast which then expands and cracks the moulding etc etc
