Mate of mine just picked up a Hurley 18 for a coupla hundred quid. Therefore I am back in the MAB resto biz.
Anyone any experience, comments or things to look for while we are pulling it apart/putting it back together?

Any performance foibles?

Thank you all muchly.....

Google hurleyowners. A great buch of Hurley enthusiats. Had a Hurle 22 and a 30. Need a load of wind but great sea boats when it's rough. Thw 18 was just as good. Built solidly too.

I bought one a few years back for £800 and thought I did well! Watch out for cracking and delamination around the keels if she's taken the ground a lot. Other than that she a stout little cruiser and surprisingly roomy too.

KDS, this is a single keel.... so whats cracking about it?

Nope, we are going to do the jobs list survey tonight. It was bought by mate Dave from ebay with me encouraging him from my phone, halfway up the coast to Lowestoft in the rain.
It hasnt been launched for the last 8 years, and is in a bit of a state, but from the mobile pics it looked do-able for not much dosh. We have bought an outboard Merc longshaft for 50 quid, and I have all the bits and pieces to help, just laying around in the garage. It looks like we will need to put a new rubbing strake or at least scarph a bit in, and maybe i will be sneaking into our machine shop here to turn up rudder bearings and similar.
We have set a target of 1st week of July to get it in the damp stuff.
Its a first boat project, he would like to escalate to a Mirage 28 or similar over 3 or 4 projects.
