Hunton XRS55

Just looking on the Hunton website and the computer renderings for the XRS55

What is Fiona's thinking for this boat ?

Good question!
Ok it’s only a rendering. So missing minor details like cleats ,navy lights etc .
Let’s look at the concept imagery — as is .
It’s a bit too woody for me .If that’s all real - exterior than looks a maintenance nightmare , too many curved bits ,to pop up undo and try asking a yard to replace them ( when the warranty drops out ) in the back and beyond Med ?
Also all silvering up together or different states of “ honey “ —- nice ! .
If it’s fake urgh !
Bathing platform is too small ,sun pad too small ,
Canopy no openings in the roof = think greenhouse or geny n air con constantly running ?

Interior — looks like 70 ,s modular drop in units ( prob fabricated by a subsidiary off site ? ) - not my bag ,but beautiful to others ? Maybe .

Air intakes could act like scoops and there’s no scuppers in the cockpit , it could fill up .M cubed of water weighs a ton .
Those details should be attended to on the renderings .

Nothing said about the technical stuff , assume it’s fast so surface drives and big engines = pricy build .
Otam allready established in boutique high end bespoke high speed stuff ,58 springs to mind .
Otam build small numbers a year of double figures is a good year .Proven track record company and product wise .
Ferretti group Pershing ,Riva ,Itama .
If you not too bothered about the assumed performance thing the. The new FL 63 GTO has had rave reviews and seems to have integrity via Vripak in the engineering .

Not sure I would want to spend X + ( a lot of % more ) on a boat made by guys pulled of the dole in the Soton area given a brush ,a roll of matt and a tin of resin past its sell by date .:)
AIMHO of course .

Think the top speed once mentioned was 60 knots plus, With no factory now I would guess that it would be build by a subsidiary and assembled like a kit some where ,
Not to my liking either, Cockpit looks like Ikea furniture and no padding on the seats . only 1 cabin as well ....

dunno (and don't care!) about top speeds, engineering ideas, etc.

What I see in the renderings is a fairly early on approach on how the thing would look, shape/design wise not that bad, once textures and materials are in, it's fugly. Clearly the person worked on these renders spend 80% of his/her time modeling, and split the rest on texturing and lighting. You don't do that unless you have someone (preferably a whole team!) behind doing all the detailing carefully. This step is not there, as it's most likely one design grad effort we see here.
Will agree with others that bathing platform and sunpad are pathetic, as is the whole stepped transom plastered with teak (fake most likely...). Finally, 1 cabin on a 55ft thing is pushing it a bit, no?

I find it sad, it's so amateur that is damaging the image of the brand. I know the brand doesn't exist anymore, but there are quite a few boats still floating around and could do better without this.

This boat has been in the design stage for many years and thats as far as it has got.
Unfortunately the brand has been damaged for some years, I lost faith in what they were doing when the price for a 37 reached £375,000 EX VAT crazy price. No wonder they did not sell many boats at that price,

Hunton had / Have a good reputation for quick boats with good sea keeping, They are great fun to drive but their appeal is to a very small market.
