Hunton 36 sold what next

Been there and really struggled to find anything after my Hunton 36, had to go for an RS43.
As we also use ours as a caravan had to succumb to the wife‘s wishes and change the 43 to a Sunseeker San Remo (boy I miss my Huntons).
it‘s the hardtop bit that is really restrictive, is this a must?

Or I buy another Hunton ? there are a couple for sale that Martin knows of that he is not the broker for. I know he has his eyes on 1 of them

Yup I think you sold the best and are now looking for something that will most likely end up being not so good

I feel for you going from a 36 to the RS 43 then having to give that up.
The idea behind the hard top is to hopefully get more use in the UK . Currently I go boating with my Eldest son but would like to get the wife and Grand childrenout so wanted something with some cover for either hot sunny days or when its not as sunny.
When myself and wife went out for a sea trial on Axopar 37 it was an October day with wind and rain, But she felt safe and warm in the cabin with heating on. It was a Force 7 with water blowing over the bows , With out the cabin we would have got very wet, but instead enjoyed the trip out in Solent.

Buy the Axopar then. Easy resale if you want a change in the next couple of years.

I am also looking at buying a 28-35 foot dayboat after selling my SC35 and have decided to move to an outboard for simplicity, performance, reliability, and ease of servicing, the three on my shortlist (so far) have already been mentioned in previous posts ( Axopar 28 Cabin - XO 270 Cabin - and the new Saxdor 320 GTC).
Having previously owned a Chaparral inboard/outboard and a couple of large twin engine boats, the associated costs of servicing the engine, potential manifold and riser replacement and leg/bellows replacement for me the outboard is the way to go at this size

Ian, it feels like you need to do something different. You had the Hunton and Mrs Ian wasnt keen and you were not able to het the grandchildren on the boat, no point going back down the same road no matter how much you want or miss the speed. its just going over old ground and you will have a similar (or the same) boat that you dont get to enjoy in the way you want.

For us, having doors and a roof we can close, and heating and a toilet makes the boat much more useable all year round and in fact, during the summer we used the boat more than any other because it was so simple, point and shoot boating.

Having the doors and roof open in the 28 Cabin actually feels 90 % of an open boat yet its easy to close up and still gives great protection from weather and for the small people. As for inboards vs outboard. outboards all day long. My boat has been sat still for a month or so now, the expensive engine bit is kicked out of the water and not coming to any harm.

You will struggle (read no chance) to get a Mk 1 37 for your 100K budget but that will get you a very nice 28 Cabin. i know there is a nice 37 in channel islands tax unpaid at 160K, there is also a very nice Sun Top 37 owned by a neighbour of mine that's around the same money tax paid. It has the forward cabin but still gives you the open experience.

You have summed it up brilliantly Z1ppy.
I want the boat to be exactly as you say . the 28 Cabin works for you.
the 37 holds its value very well I know it’s out of range .

This is a bit of an 'outlier' as they're so very rare but what about:

Nimbus 33 Nova (old add) - Nimbus 33 Nova 2003 - Offshore Powerboats

Nimbus 33 Nova (current add) - Vente Nimbus 33 Nova occasion - Bateau à Moteur avec Cabine à Bandol, France | Youboat FR

Nimbus 33 Nova (best pictures) - 2004 Nimbus Nova 33 Coupé Express Cruiser for sale - YachtWorld

I didn't know the 33 existed until a family walk around Lymington yesterday.

Overview:
  1. Very good deep v hull - not a Nimbus plodder but the full deep v Nova hull.
  2. Walk around decks - great for grandchildren and wobbly adults
  3. Proper hard wheelhouse - great for shelter
  4. KAD 44/300s - should be good for 40 knots
  5. Great build quality
