369 posts and rising. Pity we don't have the voting option on this site, anyway I'm pro civil liberties and therefore pro hunting, but too lazy to wade through these posts. Would someone like to offer a precis of the way the views have been expressed on this thread, are we mariners in favour of freedom or against it?

Some people like hunting other don't
Some view this as restraint on freedoms others don't
Some view this as town vs country others don't
Some view this as toffs vs oiks other don't
Some say it's cruel others say pest control
Some couldn't give a rat's wossits

Brief enough?

I'm guessing that's a very accurate assessment!

Happy to oblige.

And I forgot that it also contains a game of Mornington Crescent (which I won), the whole of The Hunting of the Snark (possibly the longest post ever seen on this board) and the beginnings of a literary appreciation circle(which I don't understand 'cos I'm not literate).

Living outside the UK, perhaps I'm too far away to understand it either. Is it an insider or wot???

It is a waste of time and it annoys the pig.

Mornington Crescent is the name of a game played on a radio show called 'Sorry I haven't a clue'. If I tell you that the chairman is Humphrey Littleton and the teams include Tim Brook-Taylor and Barry Cryer then you might be forgiven for thinking that the game is not altogether serious.

Now available on Digital Radio BBC7.

And, what's more, this government is likely to try and ban "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" because it doesn't adhere to usual quiz-show rules which I'm are proscribed by the E.C. somewhere. Infact, thinking about it, the government want to ban the British Broadcasting Corporation anyway. I wonder if it's to do with too many Radio 4 quiz programmes with totally uninteligable rules, scoring systems and run by free-spirited chaps and chapesses - not to mention hunting on the "Archers". Shame about Helen isn't it? I think Tony and Pat should buy her a boat - at least it would get her out of bloody Borsetshire. God - and now there's all this business between Adam and Debbie - it never ends! ( uk.media.radio.archers )
Bit like the Hunting Debate NB thread really . . .

A chum of mine was on that aweful Fastnet in '79 and they got rolled and dismasted. Andy was on the radio trying to send a mayday and at one point all could hear was - THAT TUNE . . . !

It's my only soap - honest

I do think Billy Connoly has a point though, that our dour national anthem should be replaced by the Archers theme. Would make Olympics ceremonies etc much more fun /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I always thought the Magic Roundabout theme would be an excellent anthem.. ending with Zebedee .. Time for Bed..

In the 'old days' lots of Yotties used to listen to the Archers...... it was on just before the shipping forecast on Long wave! Sad..........but true.

What d'ya mean, sad?
Excellent stry line, true to life, goodies generally win and oh yes, they hunt.
Listening to the Archers on board also makes one realize what one's missing, so, we should be grateful for that if nothing else!
Lay off Brian aldridge - he's suffered enough !
