Hunter Yachts ..... Yes or No??

I have owned three British Hunters and they are solidly built. I visited the factory in essex and saw some of the construction. They are not luxuriously fitted out, but everything works well.
About 50% were kit boats where just the fitting out is done by the owner. All structural and engine work is done before the kits are delivered. I had an owner completed Pilot 27 which was far better than the factory fitted boats as the guy who did it took a year doing it.
The owner association is very good.

Ah, a British hunter, horizon 30. Very nice boats. This will have a healthy ballast ratio, with a narrow and easily driven hull. She will be nicely balanced and sail very well. Hunters had very well engineered hulls, with all bulkheads, bunk fronts and tops etc laminated to the hull., as was the hull / deck and transom joint. This produces a very stiff and strong boat. You could try the hunter owners association for more info http://www.hunterassociation.org.uk/ha_about_the_hunter_association.php

A British Hunter Horizon 30 won the Round the Isle of Man Race in 2011 which was held in gale & near-gale conditions. Here is a photo of her doing it. She was the twin-keeled version like the one the OP is interested in.

These are excellent boats. The Horizon 30 was superceded by the Channel 31 in 2000/2001, the latter is still being built http://www.britishhunter.co.uk/
