Humpback Whale spotted in Arun at Littlehampton.

A particularly large Humpback whale was spotted by hundreds of onlookers in the River Arun going downstream at Littlehampton recently.

Harry, the Harbourmaster said " Well - you dont see that everyday! "

The huge whale is currently off the coast near Newcastle and pundits tell me they expect it to travel up the Tay to Dundee.

Typical poor modern reporting - the river at Littlehampton is the Arun, not Adur.

Adur is further East - Shoreham? perhaps.

Not from my experience.

It is the view I have from our boat opposite the Arun Sailing Club at Littlehampton. Which is most definitly the Arun.

As I said, sloppy reporting from a local paper.

Must have been a long time since you have visited!
The bridge is the main road from Littlehampton to Bognor and the foot bridge is not a swing but a retracting bridge
The whale is now in Dundee getting craned into place.
