Many thanks to all who have contributed to my original post.

If James has followed this topic and felt offended by my original post then I offer him my humble apologies.
It was written immediately following my return from a very
enjoyable but tiring trip along the South Devon/ Cornwall Coast.

I am not the Owner of the Boat. I am simply trying to help out someone relatively new to sailing, who is having problems with the boat. I simply wanted to use this forum to get ideas to help him.

Regarding the points I made:
1. Tendency to luff up .
Following my experience and and the comments of people on this board, I think the problem is the permanent use of the outboard foresail track, which upsets the designed sail balance, the slot is opened up and the main overpowers the foresail when on the wind, in anything of a breeze.
My conclusion is that the owner should use the inboard tracks on all points of sail. When he is more experienced he can purchase a cruising chute and then use the outboard tracks to control it,which,I believe, is their true purpose.

2).The winch.
Thanks to all who contributed suggestions, which I will encourage the owner to try. I have heard a whisper that mast was de-tuned, not sure what this means, does it involve mast lowering? A reply posted on an American forum mentioned masthead sheaves which set me thinking.
Are the halyards twisted together inside the mast? If so a Mainsail hoist would become difficult, if not
impossible, from foresail sheave upwards? Ihave encountered this problem on dinghies, after halyard
replacement! So possibly a visit to the Rigger is due.

Thanks again.

Eise, out.
