Why push it when you can skim over it?
sorry i though you said sticking to the speed limit?
(as torksey to gainsbourgh has one! and gainsbourgh onwards your not supposed to put the boat on the plane)

Any idea on charges at Grimsby, ie what the tarrif says and what actually gets paid?
Unless with the prior permission of the harbour master.![]()
look up humber crusing club.(this is grimsby marina)
i think their is a £2,500 membershipfee which you get back after 5 years or so,i believe.
and drinks are really cheap in the clubhouse about £1.30 apint.........
what harbour master?
i gone from dunham to keadby in less than 2hrs, but that was an event called the bridge to bridge with special permission from the waterway's
i no cx54wek but gainsbrough to cromwell is b.w.b .as you no with a speed limit.
it's only lately that below gainsbrough people have been going as fast as they like..
you never got boats doing this when i first strarted cruising the trent.
are you saying you get permission from ABP cx54wek to go as fast as you like?
A quick phone call to VTS Humber to check on expected traffic before you set off is usually all that is needed. They are very ameniable people if you speak to them.
Yes there is a speed limit above Gainsborough where the river is operated by British Waterways (It hasnt been BWB for quite some time now by the way), but nobody is saying anything about breaking the limit here. It takes around 1.5 hours to cruise from Torksey to Gainsborough at this alloted speed limit.
Just because you never got boats cruising fast on the Trent before it does not mean that they can not now. A lot of boats in the area are now higher powered higher speed craft than say 20 years ago, so it is no suprise that cruising speeds have got higher where allowed. That is of course no free ticket to cause misery for other river users.
can agree with you thier cx54wek.
no prob for me the no speed limit bit,i was just pushing the point alittle bit as a lot of smaller craft + narrow boat use that stretch aswell.
big wash can cause them problem's.(as you found out on your video).
