anyone know the formula for working out hull speed ? this is your starter for ten. no conferring !

For a displacement hull the theoretical max speed is the square route of the waterline in feet multiplied by approx 1.35.

For a bonus mark, this is because this is the approximate speed at which the boat starts trying to climb its own bow wave.
