Many thanks to all who responded to my previous post & especially to those who recommended the Farrow System. The hull was blasted using this system last week with excellent results and no adverse effect on the limpetite. Job took about 8 hours on a 35 foot long keeled Hillyard double ender, including clean up so saved this septuagenariun many back breaking hours. I can strongly recommend Tephratec (Tel: 0845 370 1990) for those in need of bottom stripping without back aching.

I had my 8.36 metre wooden boat blasted in January 2002 from water line to keel and it cost me a total of £300.00 plus £52.50 tax. My only regret was that I did not have it done from deck level. This was a mistake I had time to ponder on as I used hot air gun and scraper for several days getting the rest of the hull down to bare wood. The Farrow system took about three hours to do the job! Money well spent.

No. For my 35 ft Hillyard cost was £700. For those in the Solent area she was (still is) out at the Elephant on the Hamble where I always go for the work which has to be done ashore. They are one of the few yards left who are wooden boat enthusiasts & have looked after me these many years without requiring a bank overdraft or mortgage. Bit late in responding since just got back from Red Oxiding the bottom ahead of anti-fouling. Slightly frustrating due to weather & tide conditions. Current relaunch date 10th November ifibs.
Thats perhaps a new one for forumites. Comes from an old Scottish RN friend, ex war time HO: "If I Be Spared".
