Hull Failure!

many boats are cored today in the sides and I think it is the same with Bertram, Hatteras and many others
even Buddy Davis is coring its sides and Viking have a new 42 in porject fully cored with the bottom too
as far as I know Bertram hull till the water line is still solid, and as JFM points out it was more a problem with the resin and glass mats to the coring really, but to be sure of this one has to inspect it
when I say to Bertram to start by building a solid hull, apart from the obvious that is much better, I would say this because it also shows they want to repare this by building the best from now on
could all this damage be done by doing cheap resins from the supplier
there can be many things, but in the 80s when there was the Iran oil embarko similar problems happened because of record oil prices at the time, and oil prices where on an uncontroled high too as in 2007 and 2008

this problem will impact only Bertram, not other Ferretti group builders. It's a bit like blaming VW when your Bentley breaks down.

[/ QUOTE ]Yup, or blaming Ford when your Jaguar breaks down. Sounds familiar?
Mind, I wish them only Betram will be affected (which is already a disaster anyway), but I'm afraid there will be more than that, at least in the US, for the reasons I previously mentioned.

I like this car comparisons
Mercedes passed a diffuclt period cause of fluky electrics, and BMW enjoyed all this as it doubled the sales

but Bertram will suffer less depends how much they make this owner happy and how much they are sure there is not this mistake again, even on other already built boats

seeing there management today on the site there building manager just came from Cobalt, now from Cobalt I heard good things really so it is not a student who is overseeing the new boats really, but then it depends how much you let a person do his job too

Blimey, no! I dont have a downer on ferretti - love em! Just saying it as I see it. When I mentioned above that ferretti cant use the "pranged" excuse I did mean ferretti, co they will be controlling the PR on this. When I said in the next post i wouldn't buy from "this company" I meant (and I think it was clear?) just Bertram.
