Hudl For Navigation Anyone?

Mine's still working, including the chart plotter. I guess it'll continue to do so until I drop it in the 'oggin.

BTW, for use as a plotter, the Amazon Fire is useless as it doesn't have GPS. Actually, IIRC, the chip is there, but it's disabled.I have one, but I don't much like it as Amazon's got its sticky fingers all over everything. I thought the Tesco bloatware on the Hudle was bad until I got the Fire. Not impressed.

My wife bought me a kindle fire but I found it would not run navionics and also as said previously was pretty loaded with Amazon stuff. I swapped it for a Hudl which crapped out after a year. Tesco told me they weren't supporting it but kindly let me swap it for a Samsung galaxy which is superb.

Still have a Hudl 2 as my 5th reserve nav tool, running Navionics and Memory Map without issue.
Lack of updates are a bonus. Samsung et al constantly forcing them on users for the company's own ends is nothing to be desired.

I have an old Hudl 2 which is still alive and well. Does anyone know of an app I can install on it that will be compatible with OpenSea maps?

I use a reset Hudl 1 with bog standard Navionics and this works great even if slow and on start up refuse the Navionics update.

I have a Hudl2 which runs with the latest all singing and dancing Navionics HD with UK + Holland and also USA Canada.

I believe one can reset without updating by ensuring WiFi is OFF. I certainly had no problems with the Hudl 1 which is rarely connected to the internet.

Any idea of value, I've got a hudl 1 & 2 sitting at home doing nothing.

Put them on eBay with no reserve and take what you get. On a good day you might get £20.

There is a demand as for some purposes such as plotter use they form a low cost alternative. I use the Hudl 1 when out on boats other than my own dealing with regattas. It makes buoy laying a doddle with the facility for users to place marks on the charts and which only appear at max zoom. These marks are visible to all users .
