Would anyone have a boat test / review for a Hallberg Rassy 312? I have an old one page Yachting Monthly, but it doesnt give much information.
Maybe there was a more recent secondhand evaluation one?

I don't know what you are looking for but although I've not sailed one, I have a friend with one and as far as I know it it a fairly vice-free boat. Compared to my newer 34 it is obviously slower, and the bunkerage is more limited by modern standards, but it is comfortable and sails well.

I have a 312 MkII that I have had for about 4 years. She sails very well, with a long fin and skeg she tracks nicely. As Johnalison says, she is slower than more modern designs and the accommodation is smaller that a modern 31 footer. That said, we have crossed the channel from Needles to Cherbourg in 11 hours and for the two of us she is perfect.

I am going to have to learn German for the artical from pvb!

Thanks guys, I did see the boat test in german on the HR site pvb, and have not been able to google translate it as the cut and paste option is disabled on it.
I will be downsizing in the next year or so, and am looking for something I can singlehand, like when I started sailing.
My first choice was originally a Vancouver 27/28, but I was on board one recently, and it was a bit small and too basic for me, as I have been spoiled by Swedish yachts for over 30 years now! I did have a HR34 johnalison, and one would be ideal, as they are an awesome boat, but the asking price for them is too high, even for an older model.
It will either be a HR29 or a HR312 now, and I am just gathering all the information I can.
Thanks for you input Turnnidge, I am not that worried about slow speed, for now ease of handling, and comfort would be my priorities. If I have some questions as I progress I will certainly ask you if I may?

fearmhuir, if I can I am more than happy to answer any question that you have. I single hand mine on a regular basis and she is perfect for it, with the main sheet in the cockpit all the control lines are to hand.

I would say that the HR 29 is a superb design, and possibly the best of that generation, but it is that much smaller than the 312, and so inevitably less steady, which is why I pressured my friend into buying the 312 in preference to a 29. The fact that he has a wife and dog may have something to do with it too.
