Hi all,
I have been given a new toy to play with: a used 6kW(!) Lewmar bow thruster motor and accompanying Albright solenoid. Not sure what I will use it for, but I'd at least like to find out if it's still working. The solenoid seems ok, though I haven't tested it with a high current load yet, and generally both motor and solenoid look in great condition. I've inspected brushes and commutator and all looks well. Motor spins freely and both field and rotor measure 0.0 ohms - I expect this is actually something like 0.03 ohms for a 12V 6kW motor, but I haven't got my bench meter to hand. The only thing stopping me from being able to test it is that it was given to me with the solenoid disconnected and separated from the motor. I think I know how field and rotor should connect to the solenoid, but I don't know how to position the solenoid in order for all cables to reach the correct terminals. I've spent a good few hours trying to find a photo of this on the internet, or at least a wiring diagram, but all pictures seem to show a slightly different looking motor unit with a large plastic cover concealing the solenoid, and Lewmar of course do not provide any information. Is anyone here perhaps familiar with this model and know how it should be done?
