How to specify (and find) the right bolt?

How do you specify the unthreaded part of a bolt? I need m6 306/a2 with a 30mm unthreaded section, normal hex head, overall length 35mm or over. I'm sure I'm being thick, but I can't seem to find specs that show the length of the unthreaded bit?

Unless its a precision fitted bolt the length of the unthreaded bit is inconsequential. Usually its about two thirds to half the length of the overall length.

Off the shelf bolts will be to the ISO standard here:- ISO 888 Thread lengths for ISO metric fasteners (bolts). Otherwise you will probably be in to specially made for you - expensive
