How to remove yellow stains on boat

For Yellow Stains, and Rust marks, you can't beat Oxalic, but do apply a good coat of Wax, afterwards.

In Tasmania we are troubled by tannin stains at the waterline (I assume you might get the same in some Scot's lochs.

Oxalic acid, again, is the answer. We can buy crystals over the counter in Australia, no need for expensive blends,

As mentioned, no need to invent the wheel, mix in warm water until the last crystals will not dissolve, then apply with a paint roller (wearing a fully protective suit etc).

I like to use OA mixed in warm water until last crystals fail to dissolve, I then mix with wallpaper paste and add a squirt of green washing-up liquid so it sticks and you can see where it has been applied.....! Works a treat. I bought a 5kg tub years ago and still have some left!

I use either neat Harpic 10X bleach or, oxalic acid crystals mixed with cheap washing up liquid. Both do the job really well but be careful with the Harpic and don't leave it on too long (as it contains a blue colouring) and take care not to get it on any stainless fittings.

Oxalic Acid crystals mixed with 5 litres of fairly hot water in a garden pump sprayer makes a great wash for removing yellow stains. I do two laps of the hull with it and it removes all the yellow.
There’s a couple in my marina who had just bought a very badly stained Antares. They spent ages trying to get the yellow off by scrubbing it. I told them about the Oxalic acid. The following Saturday I met them and the boat was perfectly white. They said it was the most satisfying job ever.

I used OA last year on a rib with amazing results, followed by two layers of Meguiar Pure Wax Carnuaba.

Within a week or so with use only from the stack it was straight back???
