how to register a PLB?

I bought a PLB a couple of months ago, filled in a form and sent it back to Falmouth Coastguards for registration. But I never got as much as phone call or a letter saying that it has been registered. Am I missing something here?
Any suggestions please?

thanks Pete for your quick reply. I am just slightly concerned that they have not received it at all. And I am doing a lot of offshore racing at the moment, with Fastnet in August. Shall I call them you think?

Can't hurt.

I did hear someone say that they're reasonably fast at actually registering the beacons and it's only sending out the acknowledgements that is behind. I've no idea if that's true though, so when you phone you could ask them to look you up, see if you're already in the database or not.

I registered an EPIRB earlier this year.. I just received the confirmation sticker (that needs to be stuck to the EPIRB) after four months.

I did actually register via the online site. At least doing it that I received a relatively quick confirmation email (I think within a month) and a PDF of the registration.

As others have said it takes absolutely ages to get back the confirmation. I registered five plbs online at Christmas and got the stickers and documentation around the end of April. Nothing to worry about.

As others said, there is a backlog here. I registered beginning of this year and called. They were very friendly and apologetic. try calling/emailing?

thank you all for your replies. I now had a chat with them and confirmed they had receive my application in April 2013 but have a HUGE backlog. They have emailed me now the certificate and confirmed that the PLB is registered to my name.

Just one more question. After registering the PLB at MCGA, do we have to do anything else at Ofcom, to include the data in the Radio license? I am asking this because after I registered my PLB with MCGA two months ago, I still can´t see it reflected in the ITU database

You should go to the Ofcom online licensing system and update your license to include the PLB. Just takes a few clicks and doesn't involve any paperwork or manual steps. As a side bonus, it will revalidate your license for another ten years.
