Sometime in the last year I read an article (I think it was PBO) about using foam pipe insulation to make a cockpit seat. It looked good and I want to do it but now can't find the article.
Did anyone else see it?

Foam pipe insulation is tubular dense foam about 5cm outside diameter. Also knon as, and sold as swimming noodles around here. Not much use in them selves as a seat. Often used to cushion guard wires when crew lean out. Any seat would need a frame of s/steel or wood onto which fabric an be stretched or covered with high density foam. What have you got in mind perhaps a description of what you need. ol'will

2 layers of canvas with pockets sized for the pool noodle/pipe insulation would provide a seat cushion and useful flotation aid. Perhaps the foam could be sliced lengthwise to give a thinner cushion.

It's weird, I've searched and searched and manually gone through 26 pages of PBO articles and found nothing, I'm sure that I didn't dream it.
Anyway, it was simple enough, just strips of foam tubing cut to size and held together with cord running through them. Flexible, cheap and it keeps your bottom dry.
I'll have a go anyway.

Ah I see you are making a cushion for seat. Should be no problem cutting tubing to length enough pieces to make width of cushion. Each pair tied together through the tubes with light rope. However far easier to make a cushion out of high density foam. (like mats for camping mattress) I have done this but found the biggest problem was tieing the cushion down (remembering) so it did not blow away and then putting it away aftersailing. So abandoned. You might consider foam in your sailing trousers. ol'will
