I want to fix a chart rack above my chart table on the partition between the cabin & heads.
The partition between them is quite thin so I guess I couldn’t screw it - I don’t really want to use protruding nuts & bolts but flush fitting on either side.
I’m sure I’ve seen fixings where a flatish pan-head screws into a ‘female’ threaded fitting that also has a flat head.
Can’t think how to describe it or what to ask for!
Does anyone know or any better ideas how to fix it up?
Thanks
Frank

My windows use them to. Screwfix has something called Inter Screw (part numbers 42623-91) which looks like what you describe.

I'm not suggesting you use the Screwfix ones, they are nickel and for materials 28-36mm thick (if the partition is that thick then screws would be fine, is Nickel OK for Marine interior use?). But if you google Inter Screws you may find something more suitable. They are in the section on Furniture Fixings, so maybe try furniture manufactures as well as windows.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Mark.

Here is my two-penny worth ....
1. try IKEA ... they have aluminium male/- female fastners that tie adjacent cabinets together .. you can always grind down the excess from both prior to mounting.

2. Try a place that sells graphic/- artist type materials ... some months ago I helped a colleague put together his restaurant menus ... he had similar type fastners but in brass and they were "hollow" allowing a cord to be run thru for the menus to then be hung from the side of the tables.

Drill hole size enough for female OD in bulkhead, hole in chart rack to suit OD of male ... screw together ... as one must ;-))
